About Telos
We love our students deeply, and our greatest desire is to see them transformed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Telos is the youth ministry (grades 6 through 12) of the CHMC / Charis Education Department. We gather in the Glendale area, worshiping together on Sundays and sharing life on Friday nights, in a community at home in both English and Korean.
They already belong
Our students are covenant children — most of them born into families of the church. We don't presume they've each made the faith their own, but we don't treat them as outsiders waiting to be won in either. They belong to the household of God already, and we build everything around that.
So Telos is not an attraction-based program hoping students will one day decide to join the real church. It is the church, forming people who are already part of it — through middle school, through high school, and into who God is making them.
What we're forming
Three dimensions of a whole person being shaped by the Gospel. Every environment — Sunday, Friday, small groups — is pointed at all three at once.
Head
Conviction
Do they know what they believe, and why? A faith they can give an account of — not one they've only inherited.
Heart
Character
Is the Gospel actually reshaping their loves and their motives — who they are when no one is watching?
Hands
Calling
Are they serving, and learning to love faithfully in the communities God calls them to — church, family, school, and one day their work?
How care reaches your student
No student is a face in the crowd. Care travels a short, deliberate path to every one of them.
The Teacher is the constant. Every student is known through their Teacher, who is in turn cared for by the Pastor. For Jr. High, a Buddy — an older student — is layered on top, so the youngest never walk in alone.
Three groups, three kinds of belonging
Every student · now
Care Groups
A grade-level group led by a Teacher whose whole job is to know your student by name — to listen, check in, and walk with them personally.
Jr. High · now
Buddy Groups
Older students who come alongside younger ones so no one stands alone. The goal isn't to be their only friend — it's to help them make their own. Belonging first.
